November 2014 (Part 2) - California Cushings come to visit!

Life turns into PARTY TIME when my brother, Jason, and his family come to town...all the way from Ridgecrest, California! The Cushings really know how to party when we get everyone together. We waste no time getting the festivities started and make the most out of all the time we can spend together! We had something fun planned almost every day they were here during Thanksgiving break. But it never seems to be enough! We just have such a great time together!

We started the week-o-fun with a birthday celebration for Grandma Deb!
I think the best present was having all of her 9 grandchildren with her to celebrate!!!
We all helped make (and clean up!) dinner full of Grandma's requests. Grandma opened up her presents then we had dessert while we played games! The cousins enjoyed quality time together, of course!
I love my mommy!

The next family night of fun, fun, fun, was a pizza and bowling night!
The U of U bowling alley has become a Cushing favorite.
Sam was rockin' the house with his mad bowling skills!
 Grandma is the best cheerleader!
Papa was the designated helper for the kiddos who needed the ramp. He took his job very seriously...helping Charlie, Lilly, and Sam get the ramp lined up just right.
Oh my....that smile just melts me!
Jaymie, McKaleigh, and Rhiannon were up against Brett. Girl power!
Goose (aka Charlie) enjoyed not only the bowling, but also running up and down the wheel chair ramp.
All of the Cushing cousins together = pure awesomeness!
Lilly calls Rhiannon "my Rhiannon." Rhiannon is so darling to Lilly and spoils her with plenty of attention!
I love T.T.'s (Verity) "strike" pose!!! The 6 of us all get along so well....I love it!
This is by far my favorite picture from the night! I've been teaching Papa the fine art of taking a "selfie." Our first attempt was back on the 4th of July. We have had a few others since then....but this one takes the prize!
(I also love Matt's accidental photo bomb!)

Thanksgiving Day was LOVELY!!!
The weather was lovely.
The food was lovely.
The family fun was lovely!
During the afternoon Matt took some of the kids out in the backyard and taught them how to play "Soccer Snurp." It's a game that he made up with our own kids and it was a big hit. Even Uncle Jason came out to play and they all had a great time.
We also had the kids work on a little project...they made Christmas ornaments to use on a giving tree for the Christmas Box House. Brett's family had picked the CBH as our Cushing-sibling-gift-of-giving for this year. The ornaments were handed out to people who signed up to donate items to the CBH. The kids took their part of the service project very seriously and created some wonderful ornaments. The best part was...they had tons of fun doing it all together! Even Sam got in on the action and made a few of his own.
Charlie needed little help with his designs.
Miss Lulu was also very independent with the stickers, fancy scissors, and markers used to decorate her creations.
Once the craft project was cleaned up, Grandma got out a fun Thanksgiving table cloth (from Auntie Lynn?) that the kids could actually draw on and use for tic-tac-toe and other fun games. Sam was loving the word search!

The Thanksgiving feast was absolutely delicious! Everyone helped provide the food but Grandma's turkey (cooked with lime and onion) was the best part! Yummy. After dinner was over and cleaned up, we decided to take the kids on a walk down to Dilworth Elementary to play. Brett, Jaymie, and I took all but 2 of the kids with us. We had fun playing on the playground and Brett played soccer with some of the kids too. Unfortunately, Tyler's blood sugar went low so we had to call Matt to come over with some sugar! He brought Charlie with him and we stayed for just a little bit longer...until it was getting too dark and cold. When we got back to the house we had dessert and games. It was such a fantastic day!

I think this last picture sums up our week of fun with the Cushings....there was a whole lot of love going around during our week-o-fun!
We filled up our canteens full of quality Cushing family time until the next time we can get everyone together.

It is so fun to remember all the fun we had. I have one correction, the paper tablecloth on Thanksgiving was from Daveen Hammond, although Auntie Lynn would do some something cool like that. Fun, Fun, I love being all together!!!
